  • Care-Packages for our Deployed Siouxland Troops

    Project Details

Our goal is to ship every deployed Siouxland Service Member a care-package. A large deployment of Siouxland Troops is scheduled for 2020 and we want them to know that the Siouxland Community is thinking of them and supports them. Each box costs roughly $17 to ship and $50 to fill with protein bars, flavored drink mix, coffee, baby wipes, tooth brushes, tooth paste and other snacks, hygeine items and supplies. Our goal for the care-pack program is to make sure our Siouxland Service Members and their families know that their service and sacrifices are not forgotten and very much appreciated. Care-pack events give military families a safe place to connect and build peer-to-peer support, learn about the other local resources available and provide support to their service member. Having a loved one deployed is challenging on the entire family especially during holidays and important events like birthdays and milestones. Help us show our military families that they are not alone.

  • Emergency Support for Siouxland Veterans

    Project Details

The Emergency Support for Siouxland Veterans provides Siouxland veterans, active military service members and military families with food assistance, a tangible support network, transitional assistance, economic and emotional stability, prevents and/or responds during a crisis and connects Veterans and Military families with other local resources to stabilize their situation. The program specifically provides monthly food assistance, hot meals, support events, emergency crisis support services, resource fairs, blood pressure checks, haircuts, clothing, shoes, career opportunity information and meeting space for peer-to-peer support groups. The Siouxland Community has over 18,000 Veterans according to the 2010 census. In 2017 we hosted 16 Veteran support events serving over 2,500 individuals and 97% fell below the Federal Poverty Levels. This program provides Military families and Veterans with the tools to improve their quality of life and build financial stability. After deployment Veterans often face difficult challenges reintegrating back into their community and may suffer from anxiety, depression, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries(TBI). They may also experience a lack in timely health care. Our goal is to provide a positive community outcome for our Military families by providing emotional and financial resources; emergency support; help build financial stability; improve quality of life and ultimately prevent crisis. Grant funds would specifically be used to provide emergency support grants, food-assistance and support meeting space to all Siouxland Veterans and their dependents.
