This Year's Project: Creative Service During Covid Season
About Our Organization
Foster Grandparents change the lives of the children they serve and their own lives as well, while making a difference in their communities. Children receive much needed love, care, and assistance through one-on-one attention. Foster Grandparents remain active and engaged, knowing they are needed in their community.
Senior Companions make a difference in the lives of the adults they serve and their own lives as well, while making a difference in their communities. Adults served receive much needed love, care, and assistance through one-on-one attention from a Senior Companion Volunteer that they can not get from anyone else. There is no cost for Friendship!
All of our volunteers are 55 and up as is required to be a part of Senior Corps., and are matched with clients or schools in their local community.
Current Project: Creative Service During Covid Season
This year we are in a position where we need to support our volunteers in continuing to do the service they love, safely! We would like to use the funds raised by this campaign to provide virtual opportunities for our volunteers. We could then purchase I-pads or "Grandpads" to allow for Foster Grandparents to connect with classrooms directly online to continue serving the kids safely. Many schools are not allowing our volunteers to serve in person due to guidelines they've set for the school year.
Any excess funds can then be used for PPE for the volunteers that are still able to serve in person. We thank you ahead of time for your donation. Your gift keeps on giving.
Grow Our Volunteer Support
Any funds raised in the Siouxland Big Give will be used to purchase recruitment materials and grow the program to what it is destined to become... something great!!! There are underserved areas we desire to meet needs in for both programs. Schools are asking for Foster Grandparents to support their classrooms and there are clients on hold in communities who do not have current volunteers for the Senior Companion Program.
We are thankful and grateful for any support raised for our programs.
We have a large shortfall of funds to cover transportation, especially within the Senior Companion Program. We need funds to reimburse the volunteers that go out every day and try to help people, all locally. We live in a rural part of the country and our volunteers have to put in more miles than expected to get clients to their Doctor appointments or just help with supplying groceries to the people they serve.
