This Year's Project: Safe Sleep Gift Bags for Plymouth County
About Our Organization
The Iowa Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Foundation is a statewide non-profit 501c3 health organization dedicated to providing emotional support to SIDS and SUID families, educating families, healthcare providers, and child care providers about SIDS and safe sleep practices and funding medical research into the causes of SIDS. Bereavement support includes grief packets, newsletters, peer contacts, support groups, and special events for families experiencing an infant sleep related death. Education services include safe sleep resources such as inserts, brochures, and posters. In addition, we offer free crib cards and safe sleep pamphlets to healthcare providers and SIDS and safe sleep presentations can be requested for a variety of audiences.
Current Project: Safe Sleep Gift Bags for Plymouth County
In 2018, we received funds to provide every baby born at Floyd Valley Hospital, Le Mars, a safe sleep gift bag. This initiative provided new parents with safe sleep education, a safe sleep board book, a cotton sleep sack and onesie for their newborn. The Iowa SIDS Foundation was able to provide gift bags to last approximately 18 months or through the summer of 2020. The funds raised through the Give Big SIouxland project would allow us to continue this project for the residents of Plymouth County.
