We accomplish our mission by providing: Food assistance Emergency crisis resources Support and resource events Care-packages for our deployed Troops Quarterly “Honoring All Who Served” Events (hot meals, groceries, resource fair, haircuts, clothing and hygiene items) Programs and Holiday gifts for Military Children Monthly “Waffles for Warriors” support events (Free breakfast of waffles, sausage, eggs and sides, groceries and resources)
Current Project: The pet therapy project
This project gives food and treats to service animals during the Christmas season. We also present a toy to the pets also. This year we are hoping to get enough food to give it out to every service animal. I would also like to buy beds this year but if that is not possible I am not going to worry about it. Please help us buy enough food to give each service Animal.
Emergency Support for Siouxland Veterans
The Emergency Support for Siouxland Veterans provides Siouxland veterans, active military service members and military families with food assistance, a tangible support network, transitional assistance, economic and emotional stability, prevents and/or responds during a crisis and connects Veterans and Military families with other local resources to stabilize their situation. The program specifically provides monthly food assistance, hot meals, support events, emergency crisis support services, resource fairs, blood pressure checks, haircuts, clothing, shoes, career opportunity information and meeting space for peer-to-peer support groups. The Siouxland Community has over 18,000 Veterans according to the 2010 census. In 2017 we hosted 16 Veteran support events serving over 2,500 individuals and 97% fell below the Federal Poverty Levels. This program provides Military families and Veterans with the tools to improve their quality of life and build financial stability. After deployment Veterans often face difficult challenges reintegrating back into their community and may suffer from anxiety, depression, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries(TBI). They may also experience a lack in timely health care. Our goal is to provide a positive community outcome for our Military families by providing emotional and financial resources; emergency support; help build financial stability; improve quality of life and ultimately prevent crisis. Grant funds would specifically be used to provide emergency support grants, food-assistance and support meeting space to all Siouxland Veterans and their dependents.
