This Year's Project: The First Survivor
About Our Organization
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s. For more information, visit the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/iowa or call the 24/7 helpline at 800-272-3900.
Current Project: The First Survivor
Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s. With your help the Alzheimer’s Association will continue to be the leader in providing help and hope for people living with the disease and their families. Until the first survivor we will continue working with caregivers to enhance care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementia’s here in Siouxland.
The Alzheimer’s Association offers a number of resources online, in person and on the phone-wherever caregivers are most comfortable accessing information when they need it most, we are here. Just in Iowa alone there are 136,000 caregivers providing 155 million hours of unpaid care. We offer caregivers a time to support one another through our 12 area support groups. We also offer for the 65,000 Iowans living with the disease a time to come together in local support groups. Our support groups are a way that all those affected by Alzheimer’s can connect to share their daily struggles and successes, use one another as resources and relate with others going through similar journeys.
Our educational programs such as “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia” and Know the 10 Signs” allow us to equip local individuals with the information and resources they need while providing care and support for them on their journey. Programs are given to caregivers, families, people living with dementia, professionals and the general public here in the Siouxland area.
The first survivor of Alzheimer’s is out there, but we won’t get there without you.

Financial Results: Raised $1,489.96 Toward Their Goal of $10,000.00
Our first year participating in the big give was a great experience. Thank you to those that donated and to the Siouxland Community Foundation for hosting this amazing day!
The Alzheimer's Association continues to be the leading nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's care, support and research. Funds raised helped us continue to offer support locally to caregivers and those living with the disease. We will continue the fight for the first survivor, through advocacy, awareness and with your help raising funds.
