About Our Organization
First Tee - Siouxland (Siouxland Youth Golf Association) is a youth development organization which uses golf as a catalyst to reach and impact the youth of Sioux City, Iowa and the Siouxland region by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. We focus on our nine core values (honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment), with the common goal of providing facilities and experiences to enable kids from every walk of life to partake in the game of golf, an experience that teaches values for life, and a game that can be played for a lifetime. We partner with five excellent Siouxland golf courses: Green Valley, Floyd Park, Sun Valley, Deer Run in Hinton and Sunset Pointe in Storm Lake.
Every year First Tee - Siouxland provides excellent opportunities and paid coaching positions for area high schoolers and college students. Our coaches double as mentors in our Summer and Fall programming. They help our Siouxland children learn the important rules and etiquette of the game of golf and they encourage the children to take what they have learned and incorporate it into their everyday lives. We serve over 600 children each year and about half receive full scholarships for registration. No child is ever turned away due to the inability to pay. This year we were excited to have 64 children travel in to participate from the Winnebago Reservation!
First Tee - Siouxland also employs three full-time in-school Coordinators who are charged with working with members of the freshman class who are sturuggling with the often difficult transition from middle to high school. If a child is struggling socially, emotionally or academically, we mentor, empower and teach them to help overcome these obstacles.
Current Project: SNAG equipment for indoor, year-round instruction
This year we are hoping to begin indoor instruction during the winter months and we need your help! We are attempting to raise enough money to purchase the necessary equipment to provide lessons all year round. This equipment is known as SNAG (Starting New At Golf) equipment that is especially designed for indoor instruction. The SNAG school Kit will cost $3,595 and includes everything we will need to further our mission during the cold months of the year where teaching, practicing and playing golf outside is not an option. Golf Simulator for Youth Game Improvement!
Project Details
Morningside College has graciously dontated a used golf simulator to First Tee Siouxland. This equipment will be a wonderful addition for our participants. As an instructional tool, the kids will be able to enhance their learning of shot-making abilities throughout the year, especially during the winter months! The donations received during this year's Big Give event will go towards the cost of having a professional to disassemble, transport and re-assemble this equipment at its new home with First Tee Siouxland.

Project Details
A large percentage of our kids/participants receive some form of financial support or subsidy to participate in a The First Tee program, either our green grass activities or our after-school programming at various sites and locations in, around, and throughout Siouxland. In order for us to continue to provide this subsidy - noting that NO child is turned away for inability to pay - we would like to seek funds to help support this scholarship and subsidy effort.
