About Our Organization
Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County, a fund of the Siouxland Community Foundation, seeks to provide local support for local efforts and innovations to ensure all children in Sioux County receive adequate nutrition to thrive. Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County funds Sack Pack programs in local **Sioux County** schools and supports other community efforts that feed food-insecure children and families.
Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County funds four sack pack programs in local Sioux County school districts. Sack packs are made available to children in public and private school settings in Hawarden, Hull, Orange City, Sioux Center and surrounding communities.
Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County funds Sack Pack programs in local Sioux County schools. Although it varies by week, each sack pack for a child costs around $5.00. Please help us support the programs in Sioux Center, Orange City, Hawarden and Hull while they serve children throughout most of Sioux County. Meeting our goal for this project would help us fund around 200 more sack packs for local children!
Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County was formed in 2013 with the effort of bringing awareness and raising funds to help fight hunger in Sioux County. It was founded by agriculture, business, education and faith-based community partners, in cooperation with the Sioux County Community Foundation. Hunger Free Kids began to grow through the funds received from new fundraisers and events. Events include the Free Will Dinner and Auction, Tailgate, and Tip Night. As more funds were received, the money was allocated to start new Sack Pack programs in schools around the county. There are currently four Sack Pack programs in Sioux County: Sioux Center, West Sioux, Boyden Hull, and MOC-Floyd Valley. The Sack Pack program provides meals throughout the duration of the school year, and sometimes through the summer as well. Founded with the goal of helping fund Sack Pack programs and hopes of growing to help assist food pantries through the country, Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County has made significant strides in helping this community, but more work it still to be done!
