This Year's Project: Blankets and Journals for Hope and Comfort
About Our Organization
The MercyOne Siouxland Foundation exists to support the mission of the MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center by generating and providing resources.
MercyOne Siouxland Child Advocacy Center provides services to children experiencing abuse. The Center is a safe, child-focused environment where the child tells their story once to a trained interviewer who knows the right questions to ask in a way that does not retraumatize the child. Then, a team that includes medical professionals, law enforcement, mental health therapists, prosecutors, child protective services, victim advocacy, and other professionals make decisions together about how to help the child based on the interview. In addition, we offer therapy and medical exams, plus courtroom preparation, victim advocacy, case management, and other services. This is called the multidisciplinary team (MDT) response and is a core part of the work of we do.
Current Project: Blankets and Journals for Hope and Comfort
Please join us in making a difference!
Your Siouxland Big Give donation will allow us to purchase fabric for soft, warm tie blankets and writing journals to help abused, neglected, and traumatized children on their healing journey. The goal is to foster feelings of trust, hope and support during a very difficult time in a child’s life.
Blankets and journals provide comfort that help children move forward from a traumatic experience. Every child who has a physical exam selects their very own blanket made by our amazing volunteers in the Siouxland community. Journaling provides survivors an opportunity to freely express and explore their feelings and experiences without judgement.
Will You join us in helping the children and families we serve at the MercyOne Siouxland Child Advocacy Center? Your support will transform lives and inspire hope that lasts a lifetime.
Together, we can cultivate a community that values and supports the health and well-being of our children.
A gift of $15 pays for two journals.
A gift of $25 pays for fabric for one blanket.
Thank you for considering a donation!
Be a Super Hero - help little heroes tell their story!
Project Details
The MercyOne Child Advocacy Center serves approximately 700 children from birth to age 17 who are suspected of being abused, witness to crime or who have been exposed to drugs.
For every one child who walks through our doors, 10 more suffer in silence - too afraid to tell their story.
The multidisciplinary team of caring professionals include: a physician, nurse, forensic interviewers, counselors, family advocate, law enforcement, Department of Health and Human Services, County and attorneys. This team provides services through each phase of the abuse response including detection, investigation and prosecution of abuse cases, as well as treatment and follow-up services for patients and their families.
Notably, no family ever receives a bill for services, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder the support these children need.
By giving today you truly are a Super Hero - your gift provides the financial support these little heroes need to heal from abuse!

MercyOne's Child Advocacy Center helps families deal with the unthinkable - their child being sexually, physically and/or emotional abused.
Over the last 30 years MercyOne Siouxland's Child Advocacy Center has provided care to more than 20,000 children and is the only one of its kind within 100 miles of Sioux City. The problem of child abuse is not going away, last year 700 children walked through the doors of our Child Advocacy Center to begin their journey of healing.
Because of this, we know how important it is to provide a safe place for children to tell their story and receive medical treatment and counseling - giving them hope for a brighter future.
Our multi-disciplinary team works together in the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse cases. The average cost for a visit for each victim is $1,295 but no family EVER recieves a bill for services.
We hope you will join us in being part of the solution to prevent, intervene and treat abused children.
