This Year's Project: Support the Women and Children's Program: A Path to Healing and Recovery

About Our Organization

Founded in 1976, The Rosecrance Jackson Centers' (RJC) mission is to provide help, hope and the best opportunity for lasting recovery to children, youth, adults, and families needing treatment for substance use and mental health disorders.  Rosecrance has 13 residential and outpatient facilities in Sioux City, Cherokee, Sheldon, LeMars, Estherville, Spencer and Davenport, Iowa that serve people from Siouxland and 93% of Iowa Counties.  As one of the largest non-profit addiction treatment programs in Iowa, we provide a contiuum of care to nearly 7,500 children, adolescents, and adults annually, and substance abuse preventation and education services to some 20,000 people per year.

Our continuum of care includes assessments to determine the type of treatment needed; interventions for individuals and families; outpatient care; partial hospitalizations; residentital treatment; and half-way houses. RJC provides unique value throughout our system, connections to other service providers, and attention to serving high-risk, low-income individuals who cannot find treatment elsewhere. The majority (78%) of clients served by RJC are low income and their treatment is covered by public funding.

Current Project: Support the Women and Children's Program: A Path to Healing and Recovery

Since 1995, the Women and Children's Program at Rosecrance Jackson Centers has provided a vital lifeline for women facing the devastating realities of addiction. These are women who are pregnant, raising young children, or in some cases, working toward reunification with children they have lost custody of.

Across the nation, there is a shortage of specialized substance use treatment programs that meet the unique needs of women and their children. While residential programs exist, few offer a truly comprehensive approach—where mothers can heal from addiction in a safe, supportive environment while keeping their children close. At Rosecrance, we believe that both mother and child deserve care, dignity, and the best chance to build a healthy future together.

Women come to us at the most vulnerable times of their lives. Some are referred just after giving birth, others by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS), and many seek help when they have reached a breaking point. When they arrive, they often carry the weight of unimaginable hardships: domestic violence, homelessness, malnourishment, and deep poverty, all compounded by the nationwide crisis in substance use and mental health disorders.

At our Women and Children's Program, mothers and their children live together in private rooms. Our program is not just about treating substance use—it's about healing families. Here, women may be pregnant, have recently given birth, or be actively working toward reunification with their children. We offer a place of hope, where families can heal physically, mentally, and emotionally.

How You Can Help

We are proud to be a part of the Big Give this year, with a specific goal in mind: to raise $3,566 for essential updates to our daycare and therapeutic facilities. This funding will provide new tables, rocking chairs, and much-needed educational curriculum for the daycare, which cares for the children while their mothers participate in group therapy. These items are critical in creating a nurturing environment where children can feel safe and loved while their mothers focus on recovery.

Additionally, Rosecrance has recently completed a new therapeutic recreational facility and walking paths, which will enhance our holistic approach to recovery. The new curriculum will support the children’s development, as well as their mother’s journey toward healing and transformation.

Your support will make a direct impact on these families. By contributing, you’re not just providing furniture or curriculum—you’re investing in the future of families, ensuring that children have a safe place to thrive while their mothers work toward recovery and rebuilding their lives.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference. We look forward to partnering with you through the Big Give to bring hope and healing to these deserving women and children.
