This Year's Project: Double Scholarships for Students + SBL Schools Lunch Debt Relief Initiative
About Our Organization
The Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School district serves around 1,700 students each year, and has frequently been ranked among the top high schools in Iowa by U.S. News. The SBL Schools Foundation serves as an extension of the school district, providing scholarships, teacher innovation grants and special project funds to support the students and teachers of the district.
Individuals who wish to support the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School district may do so through scholarships, grants, memorials, and endowment contributions to the Foundation. Your gift will go directly to support students and teachers in the district and will help keep the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School district one of the best in Iowa.
Current Project: Double Scholarships for Students + SBL Schools Lunch Debt Relief Initiative
Double Scholarships for High School Seniors - From Ten $1,000 Scholarships to Ten $2,000 Scholarships
Each year the SBL Schools Foundation provides $1,000 scholarships to ten graduating SBL seniors. With the rising cost of higher education and the cost of everyday living, we know that $1,000 only goes so far. That is why we have set a goal of raising $10,000 so we can raise the scholarship amount we offer to seniors graduating in 2025 to $2,000 without cutting into our endowment.
*NEW* SBL Schools Foundation Lunch Debt Relief Initiative
Furthermore, we are actively seeking to raise an additional $5,000 to launch our SBL School Lunch Debt Relief Initative. In collaboration with the school district, this initiative aims to alleviate the burden on students and families with negative lunch account balances, helping to address food insecurity within our community. By providing this critical support, we hope to ensure that every student can access nutritious meals and thrive in their educational environment. School officials will identify students with lunch debt who could benefit from this fund, and the SBL Schools Foundation will supply the funds to clear the balance. Please note that the first $10,000 will go toward doubling scholarships, and anything collected beyond $10,000 will be put toward the SBL Schools Lunch Debt Relief Initiative.
