This Year's Project: Framing Youth Art Month!

About Our Organization

The Sioux City Art Center's mission is to enrich our region's quality of life by bringing the excitement of the visual arts to our community through education, exhibitions and permanent collection. The Art Center continues to serve and enhance its position as a premier cultural attraction for the citizens of the Sioux City metro area. The Art Center strives to provide visitors with an accessible and meaningful appreciation of the visual arts by embracing education as fundamental to its programs.

Current Project: Framing Youth Art Month!

Help Us Frame the Future of Siouxland’s Young Artists! The Sioux City Art Center is excited to launch our Siouxland Big Give campaign, and we need your support to frame a portion of the artwork for our upcoming Youth Art Month in 2025!

At the Art Center, we celebrate Youth Art Month (March) every year by organizing an exhibition of outstanding artworks produced by students within a 50-mile radius. After art teachers select works for review, a local art professional chooses 80-100 artworks for a museum-quality exhibition. Each year focuses on either elementary, middle, or high school students and in 2025, work by high school students will be featured. To ensure each piece is displayed beautifully, we need to frame each hanging artwork with quality, locally crafted frames.

How You Can Make a Difference

Each frame costs $61.30, and through this campaign, we aim to frame 25 pieces of art. Here’s how you can help:

  • Contribute the cost of one frame: $61.30
  • Donate any amount towards framing a piece: Every bit helps
  • Sponsor multiple frames: Support several young artists

The Arts, and particularly Youth Art Month, includes children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, and gives them creativity and confidence that carries over into all areas of their lives. Events like Youth Art Month provide the child and their family with great memories and strengthens the child's self-esteem through public acknowledgment of their artistic gift. Your contribution will provide these talented high school artists with a professional display that honors their hard work and creativity.

  • Sponsor Youth Art Month!

    Project Details

If there is one month the Art Center would like to have several times a year, it is YOUTH ART MONTH! We LOVE it!

We celebrate Youth Art Month (March) every year by organizing an exhibition of outstanding artworks produced by students within a 50-mile radius. After art teachers select works for review, a local art professional chooses 80-90 artworks for a museum-quality exhibition. Each year focuses on either elementary, middle, or high school students and in 2022 work by high school students will be featured.

Your financial gift to Youth Art Month supports:

Professional framing costs for 50-60 artworks. Each child's artwork is sent home with them after the exhibition is over as a lasting reminder of the incredible artistic ability they possess.

Reception costs. Hundreds of students, families, and teachers attend the opening reception, which features the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem of Sioux City and other dignitaries.

Award certificates and discounts on Art Center classes.

And, most important, the creativity and encouragement of the children of Siouxland!

The Arts, and particularly Youth Art Month, includes children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, and gives them creativity and confidence that carries over into all areas of their lives. Events like Youth Art Month provide the child and their family with great memories and strenghtens the child's self-esteem through public acknowledgment of their artistic gift. The ARTS are ESSENTIAL!

  • Virtual Classroom Access- Scholarships

    Project Details

Help the Sioux City Art Center toward its goal of offering its virtual classes in an ever widening world to an ever widening audience! The Art Center has received two grants to increase access during these difficult times, and we want to continue toward our goal of giving the gift of the Arts to as many people as we can. That's where YOU can make a HUGE difference! Every dollar you contribute will help us convert more classes to virtual formatting and give kids need-based scholarships to attend these classes.

During the Pandemic, we have all experienced the healing power of the Arts. Help us reach more people and give them the same healthy experience. Thank you!

  • Education Scholarships

    Project Details

Making art accessible to everyone is at the heart of the Sioux City Art Center's mission. We offer need-based scholarships for eligible children, teens, and adults.

Help the Sioux City Art Center fund TWENTY-FIVE Education Scholarships this next year for students who normally would not be able to attend classes and Art Camp. The Art Center already gives many scholarships per year, but seeks to significantly increase its outreach with the NEW Gilchrist Learning Center on the Art Center Campus, and this project will help achieve part of that goal. Thank you!
