This Year's Project: Kindness Connects Us
About Our Organization
Siouxland CARES is a non-profit organization that has been working to support Siouxland for 35 years! Our vision is to to empower our community members to help make Siouxland a safe and healthy place for our youth and families.
Siouxland CARES takes an active role in addressing challenges facing our youth, such as underage substance use and bulllying. We work to implement prevention strategies that strengthen protective factors and reduce risk factors. Thank you so much for your support!
Current Project: Kindness Connects Us
Siouxland CARES, in collaboration with the Sioux City Mayor's Youth Commission and the Sioux City Young Ambassadors, is thrilled to introduce the "Kindness Connects Us" project.
This youth-led campaign is designed to foster a culture of kindness and inclusivity within our community by promoting the values of honesty, empathy, growing together, and friendliness.
Honesty serves as the cornerstone of trust and transparency, essential for building authentic connections within communities.
Empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of others, promotes compassion and understanding, bridging divides, and fostering understanding towards diverse perspectives.
Growing together encapsulates the idea of collective growth, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and support in achieving common goals. It highlights the notion that progress is not individualistic but rather a shared journey where everyone contributes to uplift one another.
Friendliness encompasses warmth and openness, creating welcoming spaces where individuals feel valued and accepted. It sets the tone for positive interactions and promotes a sense of belonging within the community.
We need your help to make this vision a reality! Your generous donation will fund projects and media designed to empower our youth and promote positive change. Join us in spreading kindness and building a stronger, more connected Siouxland. Every contribution counts—together, we can make a difference! #kindnessconnectsus

Youth Leaders Initiative
Each year, Siouxland CARES raises funds to support the Youth Leaders Initiative. The initiative works directly with middle school and high school youth to help build their confidence so that they may make positive choices and positively impact our community.
The initiative increases the capacity for youth to make, and influence others to make, healthy, drug-free choices by intervening in situations where healthy choices are not being made, therefore reducing the number of youth using alcohol and other drugs or bullying others. The Youth Leaders Initiative provides educational opportunities to help build citizenship in youth leaders. Students learn a variety of skills through the programs, including Drug Refusal Skills, Public Speaking, Fundraising, Volunteerism, Leadership, Advocacy and Personal Development Skills.
Do YOU support the youth of our community? Donate to Siouxland CARES’ Youth Leaders Initiative today! Donor dollars directly fund the resources and time it takes to offer these tools for positive change.
