This Year's Project: Precious Cargo & Foster Closet Support

About Our Organization

Current Project: Precious Cargo & Foster Closet Support

ALL children are precious cargo, and one of the many ways to keep children safe to to have them securely fastened in the correct carseat when traveling. Children removed from their homes often arrive in a new home with nothing to their name, and of all the items a caregiver may need to purchase to provide for this child, car seats can be one of the biggest expenses. The expense of a new car seat should not be a barrier to a caregiver, so we are raising money to stock new carseats to provide to caregivers of children in out-of-home placement. These funds will help us be sure we have carseats on hand so that children are consistently transported safely.

Help the Siouxland Foster Closet make sure children are as safe as possible when traveling by helping us provide NEW carseats to caregivers of children in out of home placement! Siouxland Big Give funds will help us purchase new carseats as well as provide support for ongoing Siouxland Foster Closet operations.

Want to see what we do? Stop by anytime between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday, Oct 4 for a free donut and cup of coffee! See our volunteers at work and get a tour. You can donate in-person or online, and we will be collecting in-kind donations of new socks and underwear all day!

Past Projects

  • Supporting Children in Out-of-Home Placement

    Project Details

The Foster Closet would once again like to support caregivers of children in out-of-home placement as they make Christmas magical for the children in their care. Donations from Big Give will help the Foster Closet buy new gifts or provide gift cards to foster families at Christmas!

All other donations above what is needed for Christmas will help the Siouxland Foster Closet with operational and maintenance expenses, as well as help stock the closet with items that rarely get donated or are good to have new, such as socks, underwear, winter waterproof gloves, snowboots, diapers and wipes.

  • Christmas Shopping & Foster Closet Support

    Project Details

The Foster Closet this year would LOVE to provide Christmas gifts to children in foster care. Donations from Big Give will help the Foster Closet buy new gifts or provide gift cards to foster families at Christmas!

All other donations will help the Siouxland Foster Closet with organizing materials (clear totes!) and with stocking the closet with items that rarely get donated or are good to have new, such as socks, underwear, winter waterproof gloves, shoes and snowboots. We would also like to be able to provide gift cards for families to go shop for items we can't provide (new shoes are often a need, and it's so nice when kids can pick out their own!).

All donations will first help the Siouxland Foster Closet with organizing and storage items. With a surplus we would love to start providing gift cards for items we don't have in stock, or purchasing new socks and underwear to keep in our inventory.
