About Our Organization
Founded in 1987, the Siouxland Soup Kitchen is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing a free meal to anyone in need, in a dignified and respectful manner. The Soup Kitchen serves over 3,000 meals per month, relying only on the assistance and generosity of our community. Any donation is greatly appreciated and used to help provide nourishment to someone in need.
Hello! Two of our seven lunchroom style tables are very wobbly and have exceeded their lifespan. We would like to replace them with two safer tables, with one having wheelchair seating. We have a handful of diners in wheelchairs each night and we do not have any tables designed to accommodate wheelchairs.
We are currently are serving between 120-180 meals per night. Each table runs between $1800-$2400, so we set our goal at $4,000. We appreciate your support to help us reach our goal! Thank you!
We purchased our current oven refurbished & it is failing us again. One side overcooks & the other undercooks. We have had technicians recalibrate it, replace the thermostat, replace the temperature knob, etc. It is time for a new one! We serve 150-190 hot meals a day, so a commercial oven is crucial! This is a huge expense, so we need your help!
We have two pieces of kitchen equipment that would really help us out preparing meals: a commercial grade can opener & a commercial grade mixer! Each one is around $2,000, so currently not possible in our budget. For one meal we open 48 15-ounce cans per food item, such as a fruit or vegetable. This takes awhile & is hard on the hands & wrists. Since we feed around 120 per day, a mixer would make it a lot easier to make mashed potatoes & gravy instead of stirring it by hand.
We sincerely appreciate the public's help!
We are in desperate need of large pots and pans, and baking dishes. We average 100 meals per night, so commercial cookware is essential. Thank you very much for helping us get the needed equipment to continue feeding anyone who is hungry in Siouxland!
