This Year's Project: Neighborhood City Life Park - Phase 2
About Our Organization
Youth For Christ (YFC) exists to reach every 11-19-year-old in Siouxland with the love of Christ through working with local churches and other like-minded partners. Our ultimate goal is to raise lifelong followers of Jesus Christ who lead where they live.
YFC recruits, trains, and encourages adult ministry leaders who intentionally build trusting and authentic mentor relationships with the teens we serve.
Every day, YFC staff and ministry leaders meet with young people in middle and high schools, juvenile institutions, and local neighborhoods who desire hope and a promising future. We give life to their story through high-energy and engaging experiences that help them uncover God's story of hope in their lives.
Current Project: Neighborhood City Life Park - Phase 2
In the last couple of years, we raised money for phase 1 of our Neighborhood City Life Park! Now, we are ready for phase 2. This phase consists of two parts- the first being a picnic table area and the second being community-building recreational activities for our teens.
With the donations we receive through Big Give, we will be purchasing four picnic tables for our Neighborhood City Life Park. These picnic tables will foster inclusivity and encourage social interaction among the teens attending our programming. Secondly, we will install recreation equipment in our Neighborhood City Life Park. This equipment includes a 9-Square game, a Gaga Ball pit, improvements to our basketball court, and park benches.
Our neighborhood is experiencing poverty, gang activity, and a lack of safe activity spaces. Our project will focus on meeting these needs head-on.
- This project will renew the neighborhood, transforming our area from run-down to vibrant.
- This project will provide an environment for teens to safely interact through active recreation.
- This project will allow our leaders to build intentional, mentor-style relationships that begin with interaction in our activity space.
