This Year's Project: Dream Big: Building Beds for Siouxland Kids
About Our Organization
As a newly formed chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace in December of 2021 we had a huge mission. We wanted to make sure No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town! Serving a 15 mile radius of downtown, plus some delivery hub locations due to flooding, as of September 2024 we have already delivered 1795+ beds to kids who are sleeping on the floor. We fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds impacted our community, we stepped up and took initiative. We're a national organization answering the call to a problem right here in Siouxland. All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Even here in Siouxland, too many boys and girls go without a bed - or even a pillow - to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health. That's where Sleep in Heavenly Peace comes in. We're a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds (or single twin beds) to children and families in need. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town®.
Current Project: Dream Big: Building Beds for Siouxland Kids
We have learned a lot in year 2024. Beds are NOT just for kids experiencing poverty. The flood waters came through so many communities leaving families desperate for even the basic needs. We have stepped up to the plate to help kids who are in need of beds. Currently, there are 130 kids on our waiting list. We are an all-volunteer run team that constructs sturdy, twin sized beds (also convertible to bunks) complete with mattresses, pillows, and bedding to families in need.
Our mission is simple-- NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!
We know all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Whether kids are needing to sleep at night to perform well in school the next day, need a bed to find comfort in when they are ill or are just relaxing after a long day to color or read a book their bed will provide them comfort.
TODAY we are hoping to fully fund 20 beds for Siouxland kids! Each bed has the following costs associated with it:
$5 pillow
$10 sheet set
$25 comforter
$100 mattress
and $110 lumber and hardware.
If you feel the way we do and want every child to have a bed of their own, please donate what you are able! We have NO local paid staff which means, when you donate to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, your donation goes directly to giving a child a bed!

Sweet Dreams: Funding 20 Beds for Siouxland Kids
Project Details
All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. In Siouxland and across the US, too many boys and girls go without a bed—or even a pillow—to sleep on. In December of 2021, a need was presented to a local teacher. A need for beds for kids to sleep on so they can get a good night of rest and be able to have a productive day. The mission "No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town!" was set for Siouxland kids. What nobody knew is how great the need really was! From December 11th 2021 til September 2023 we have delivered over 873 beds! Unfortunately, as of today, our list has 175 children waiting. That means, 175 kids (and likely more!) are sleeping on the floor or in undesirable conditions. We can do better!
TODAY we are hoping to fully fund 20 beds for Siouxland kids! Each bed has the following costs associated with it: $5 pillow, $10 sheet set, $25 comforter, $100 mattress, $110 lumber and hardware.

Beds for Kids! Clear the waitlist!
Project Details
Over the last 9 months, our chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace has helped 400 kids in Siouxland get a bed of their own. We’ve done this with the help of volunteers building the beds, donating bedding and delivering the beds. The need for beds for kids in Siouxland is still great. Currently our waitlist for beds has 162 kids on it. These are kids age 3 to 17 who do not have a bed of their own and many of whom actually sleep on the floor. Our mission is that No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town. We can only do this through the generous support of people like you all over Siouxland.
Each of our twin size beds is valued at $250. Below is the breakdown of what goes into each bed:
$5- pillow
$10- twin size sheet set
$25- twin size comforter
$100- twin size mattress
$110- lumber and hardware to build one twin size bed

Beds for Sioux City Children
Project Details
Across the US, too many kids go without a bed—or even a pillow—to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors, which has adverse effects on their physical and mental health. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a group of volunteers dedicated to finding those children who are sleeping on the floor or otherwise unwanted conditions and delivering hand-built bunk beds free of charge. Each bed that SHP delivers to a child sleeping on the floor offers comfort and safety. Often times, the kids who get our beds have never owned a bed of their own. Every kid deserves a good night's rest and for only $500, you can sponsor a whole bunk bed for 2 kiddos, complete with 2 mattresses, 2 pillows, 2 twin sheet sets, and 2 twin comforters. Your gift makes sure 2 deserving kiddos have a comfy place to lay their heads at night. By taking action today, you can experience the joy of making sure no kid sleeps on the floor in our town! Many people ask how much they should donate. I've included an image of common amounts, ranging from $10 to $500, that our donors give based on the cost of materials and bedding.
