This Year's Project: Hungry to Hopeful One Cart at a Time

About Our Organization

Founded in 2020, the Sunnybrook Hope Center is a safe and welcoming place to receive practical help, be connected to a Christ-center community, and take steps toward a sustainable future.  Every month, over 150 volunteers serve as the hands and feet of the Hope Center to support over 550 households. Additionally, we partner with Siouxland churches, agencies and organizations to serve over 8,000 children and adults this year through our material goods warehouse.

Current Project: Hungry to Hopeful One Cart at a Time

In recent months, Siouxlanders have faced unprecedented financial strain as the cost of essential items has surged. Grocery prices have skyrocketed by 25%, rent has climbed 30%, and insurance premiums have risen by 19%. With these critical expenses outpacing inflation, many Siouxlanders are now forced to make heartbreaking choices between buying groceries and paying for housing. This financial pressure has led to a rise in anxiety, fear, and overwhelming stress among our community members.

For the first time in their lives, many are reaching out for support from the Sunnybrook Hope Center's Choice Food Pantry. This is where our community's spirit of generosity and solidarity becomes crucial.

Introducing the Hungry to Hopeful Campaign

In response to the growing need, we are excited to launch the Hungry to Hopeful Campaign. Our mission is to provide immediate relief by filling 50 shopping carts with essential groceries for 50 new households in Siouxland during the month of October. Each shopping cart, costing $25, will save our guests approximately $150—a significant relief in these challenging times.

But our support goes beyond just providing groceries. Through this campaign, we aim to walk alongside each person we serve, offering not only nourishment but also prayer, encouragement, and a renewed sense of hope. Our goal is to foster a supportive community where no one has to face their struggles alone.

How You Can Make a Difference

Your involvement in the Hungry to Hopeful Campaign is vital. Here’s how you can help:

1. Donate: Every contribution helps us reach our goal of funding 50 shopping carts. Your donation of $25 can directly support one household, making a tangible difference in their lives.

2. Spread the Word: Share our campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who know about this initiative, the more support we can garner.

3. Volunteer: If you're interested in getting more hands-on, consider volunteering at the Sunnybrook Hope Center. Your time and effort can help us manage the pantry and assist those in need.

By coming together, we can turn the tide of this challenging season and help our neighbors find the support and hope they so desperately need.

    Stabilize. Sustain. Fuel Lasting Change.

Our work is so much more than food. However, food provides an opportunity for us to meet an immediate need, stabilize the families' needs and build relationships with the ultimate goal of walking alongside guests as they take steps toward a sustainable future.

Our goal during Siouxland's BIG Give is to focus on helping families receive food through our Choice Food Pantry.

A gift of $25 will provide meals for an entire week for a family of 4.

A gift of $100 will provide meals for an entire month for a family of 4.

A gift of $300 will provide meals for through the holidays for a family of 4.

  • Fund Two Week's Worth of Food

    Project Details

Sunnybrook Hope Center's food pantry has seen a 28% increase in new households visiting the choice pantry every week due to the rising inflation costs and reduction in SNAP benefits.  Families are forced to make tough decisions about providing food for their families or paying their rent, transportation or medical bills. These are choices no one should have to make.  Inflation has presented an either-or scenario, causing a greater strain on the working middle class. This year's BIG Give Project will fund an extra two weeks of food staples such as vegetables, canned meat, cereal, milk and bread to help over 500 different households in Siouxland.  Will you join us?
