This Year's Project: New Playground Equipment for our Women & Children's Shelter
About Our Organization
Established in 1938, The Gospel Mission is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to serving the needs of the homeless in Siouxland.
We first address the basic needs of those who come into our care by providing a safe place to stay in one of our shelters, hot meals from our kitchen, groceries from our food pantry, and clothing and household items from our Thrift Stores. For those who seek a path to getting back on their feet and escaping the cycle of homelessness, we also offer spiritual guidance, life skills and parenting training, jobs, counseling, and so much more. Here at the Mission we seek to show the love of Christ to everyone who comes through our door. We meet people where they are in their journey, whether they stay with us for one night or months on end.
We are not affiliated with any other organization and are governed by a local board of directors. In 2022 we provided 87,326 meals, 28,800 nights of lodging, $139,000 in items given away from our Thrift Stores, administered chapel services for 23,218 people, gave out groceries from our food pantry 17,160 times, and helped secure 6,672 days of work.

Sleeping Soundly- New Mattress Fundraiser
Project Details
Many of us take for granted the comfortable bed we come home to every night. But that is not the case for the homeless people in our community.
Here at the Gospel Mission, we work to make sure every person that needs a place to stay, has one. But we need your help. Many of our mattresses have become worn out over years of use and are in desperate need of being replaced.
We need additional funds to purchase new mattresses for the men, women, and children that stay with us each night. As the Winter months grow closer, we are already seeing an uptick in the number of people needing shelter here in Siouxland. In fact, it is estimated there are nearly 300 homeless people sleeping on the streets of Sioux City on any given night. Please help us provide them a warm, safe, comfortable bed to sleep in.
Feed the Hungry in Siouxland
Project Details
Last year we provided 86,239 free meals to anyone who comes at a meal time. Our current cost to provide one meal is $2.02 each. Although we are feeding more people in 2018, this goal amount represents the cost for 86,239 meals (same as 2017).
