This Year's Project: Flood Recovery for Displaced Clients
About Our Organization
Trivium is a non-profit organization committed to behavioral health and long-term support services. Our mission is simple: Creating Hope. Empowering Lives. Inspiring Communities.
Founded in 1975 just south of Sioux City as Monona Services Inc., Trivium has a long and rich history of empowering those with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, chronic mental illness, and traumatic brain injuries towards independence. We expanded services to Sioux City in 2014 under the name "Crossroads of Western Iowa" where we continued to help clients reach their full potential at home, at work, and in their communities. Now, as Trivium Life Services, our commitment to serving those who are seeking help but haven't had their needs met continues.
For over 45 years, Trivium has been a trusted partner for individuals with disabilities. We improve our clients' lives by providing meaningful life skills, a connection to the community, low staff-to-client ratios, confidentiality, and quality staff with ongoing training. We offer Supported Community Living and Day Habilitation Services so everyone, regardless of ability, can reach their full potential and live independently. Current Project: Flood Recovery for Displaced Clients
In June, widespread flooding threatened several Residential Service Homes.
Due to the quick response from local leadership and staff, clients were swiftly evacuated and arrangements for their safety and continuation of care were ensured.
8 of our Long Term Residential Services clients were displaced until August.
While repairs to their homes were being completed, these clients spent nearly 2 months living in temporary housing.
In the 2 impacted homes, nearly all furnishings were lost due to the contaminated flood waters.
In the kitchen of one home, all but a microwave was destroyed. Some items, like family photos and artwork, cannot be replaced. However, these clients are showing remarkable resilience despite the circumstance.
Your gift today shows our clients that they will not have to rebuild alone.
All donations received from the Siouxland Big Give will support Trivium's Flood Recovery Fund to assist clients with their flood losses.
Day Services Supplies
Project Details
At Trivium Life Services, we provide housing and services to adults with varying disabilities, as well as mental and behavioral health support. We would like to be able to purchase a variety of curriculum supplies and activities to assist us in enriching the lives of the individuals we serve in our Day Services/LINKS program.
Sioux City Lift Van
Project Details
Our clients are always on the go, but they don't get there by magic!
A lift van is vital for getting clients safely to medical appointments, community outings, and their jobs. Trivium currently has six vehicles that serve our 48 residential clients, living across twelve home, and additional day habilitation clients. Two of our vehicles, including the only van equipped with a wheelchair lift, are frequently unusable due to needed repairs. While we planned to update the vehicles this year, the cost of the vans has gone up nearly $20,000 since last year!
With your support today, we will be able to purchase a new vehicle that gets our clients where they need to be safely.
Fresh Start Fund
Project Details
At Trivium Life Services, we provide housing and services to adults with varying disabilities, as well as mental and behavioral health support. Often times, when a new individual moves into one of our houses, they lack some of their basic necessities. To help them feel at home and give them a "fresh start", we provide them with a clean, new bed, a dresser, and fresh clothing-- specifically clothing that can be used for a job interview. Change isn't always easy, but the Fresh Start Fund helps ensure a smooth transition and makes sure each indivudual is set up for success.
We hope you'll consider supporting the Fresh Start Fund with your donation today.
Community Integration
Project Details
In order to enable our clients to practice social distancing and self-isolate as needed in Crossroads-supported homes, we have developed an enhanced day programming model. Your gift, whatever the size, will support our clients living with disabilities and/or traumatic brain injuries as they participate in community integration opportunities that will keep them safe and healthy at this unusual time.
Many of our clients participate in virtual interactions with community volunteers as part of our Across the Road program. For example, a client who loves the Harry Potter series is able to virtually connect with a volunteer with a similar love for the books. Together, they read at a selected time each week. Other interactions include virtual cooking classes, screen-to-screen time with the newest additions to the Humane Society, and a virtual fire station tour and Q&A with firefighters.
You can help further our mission to enhance the lives of those we serve by making a gift today.
